So Moscow Youth Cult might not even be Russian (they’re from the East Midlands paradise known as Nottingham) but who cares when they combine rawk and indie in a way we’ve been yearning for since post rock dissolved into itself. Title track ‘Iris’ is easily the most poppy of the bunch combining a knowledge of Tri-Angle style pumping electronic slop with jagged post punk, but my money’s on the Fabio Frizzi cover ‘Zombi 2’ which takes the horror pastiche subgenre into devastatingly twisted territory.
