Israeli garage rockers The Girls turn loose their first EP - two original compositions backed by remixes from Kid Twist and Loaf regular Vincent Oliver.
Lead track 'Rush' is part Yeah Yeah Yeahs and part PJ Harvey with a decent helping of fun to keep everything ticking over nicely. If they keep this up they could slip into the shoes of the dearly departed Be Your Own Pet. 'The Girl From Yesterday' is a little more considered, dampening down some of the brashness and coming across as a bit more refined, unleashing some top notch shred during the guitar solo. Vincent Oliver draws inspiration from Robert Fripp on his excellent remix, while Kid Twist has both eyes on the dancefloor, laying down a firm disco-funk influenced backbone of kickdrums and handclaps.
